Inserting replacements in the lineupBallScore

Use the below functions to place all players into a lineup that didn't start the game. If a player was inserted as a defensive replacement using the RLM then later comes to bat, you must insert a New Batter maker in the cell where he first bats. Note: If you use the RLM to make player substitutions then a new batter mark will be automatically inserted for you.

Note: For all replacements below make sure the cursor is on the current batter. Insert pinch runners in the last slot. Batting stats will be assigned to a batter by the placement of the New Batter (NB) or Pinch hitter (PH) markers. Example: Stats will be given to the starting player until a red line marker ( NB or PH ) is reached. Starting at the first red line the stats will be given to the player in slot #2. Starting at the second red line the stats will be given to the player in slot #3 and so on.  For this reason a pinch runner cannot be encountered until after all players who batted. Thus the reason for placing pinch runners starting in slot #8.

If a player seems to have the wrong batting stats when viewing a box score the first thing to check is the scoresheets red line markers. New batter markers can be toggled by selecting Edit/Toggle new batter marker from the main menu ( make sure the cursor in on the cell to toggle).

New batter
A new batter is a player who didn't start the game and is coming to bat for the first time. This player must have already played in the field (otherwise the batter is a pinch hitter).  To insert a new batter select Lineup/Insert new batter from the main menu or press G on the keyboard. Select the slot where you want to insert the new batter first, select his position then select the batter and click Ok. If the new batter is not on the roster then click the Add player button. A red line will be placed  on the left side of the cell where the new batter was inserted. Note that this function simply combines placing a new batter in the lineup and placing a new batter marker on the scoresheet. Note: If you use the RLM to make player substitutions then a new batter mark will be automatically inserted for you.

Pinch hitter
A pinch hitter is a batter who didn't start and didn't play in the field yet and is batting for another player. To insert a new batter select Lineup/Insert pinch hitter from the main menu or press J on the keyboard. Select the slot where you want to insert the pinch hitter, select the name then click Ok. If the pinch hitter is not on the roster then click the Add player button. A red line will be placed  on the left side of the cell where the pinch hitter was inserted. Note: If you use the RLM to make player substitutions then a new pinch hitter mark will be automatically inserted for you.

Pinch runner
A pinch runner is any player running the bases for another player. To insert a pinch runner select Lineup/Insert inch runner from the main menu or press W on the keyboard. Select the slot where you want to insert the pinch runner, select the name, then select who he is running for ( the base ) and click Ok. If the pinch hitter is not on the roster then click the Add player button. A black triangle will be placed  in the upper right corner of the cell where the pinch runner was inserted. If the same player runs more than once for the same batter then place the pinch runner in the same slot each time.

Important: Insert pinch runners in the very last slot (#8) and work backwards. All other players ( new batters, pinch hitters ) should be inserted in order from slot #2.

New pitcher
A new pitcher (NP) is any pitcher who did not start the game. To insert a new pitcher select Lineup/Insert new pitcher from the main menu or press P on the keyboard. A red line will be placed at the top of the cell where the new pitcher was inserted. Stats will be given to the starting pitcher until a red line marker ( NP ) is reached. Starting at the first red line the stats will be given to the first new pitcher to be inserted into the game. Starting at the second red line the stats will be given to the second new pitcher to be inserted into the game and so on.

To view all the current pitchers in the game so far select Edit/Edit pitching list from the main menu. You can use this list to change the order of pitchers entered into a game. This list is used to assign stats to pitchers between red line makers (NP).
